Opening Prayer/Worship Hymn: O God Our Help in Ages Past
Theme: Peace by Jesus Christ Topic:Staying in Peace
Reading: 1 Peter 2:19-25
Introduction
In discussing the peace that comes from God, it should be understood that it is the Lord’s desire that we enjoy His peace continually. This means that the peace of Christ is independent of circumstances and situations around us; it is solely based on our faith in Jesus Christ. If we always go in and out of peace, then we should ask the Lord to increase our faith. This is because it is His desire that we stay in peace. This however is easier said than done; situations come in lives that may shake us to the core, but as long as we remember that God is always in control, and has never failed, we will stay in His peace. The key is to always remember that nothing takes the Almighty by surprise, and that Christ has already won the victory for us.
1. What is your understanding of staying in peace? 2 Kings 4:8-37; Psalm 23:1-6; John 14:23-27.
2. What are the lessons for us in John 10:1-10 regarding staying in peace? John 10:1-10; Galatians 5:13-26.
3. What are the benefits of staying in the peace of Christ? Psalm 34:8-14, 37:3-11; Acts2:42-47.
Intercession/Worship
Conclusion
The peace of Jesus Christ is available to us at all times and in all situations. May we through the power of the Holy Spirit enjoy the peace of Christ all the days of our lives.
Closing Prayer (Collect for Third Sunday of Easter)
O God of peace, who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus Christ, that great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, make us perfect in every good work to do your will, and work in us that which is well-pleasing in your sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
